Fashion & Travel Insiders – Alex Stedman

I was so excited when Alex Stedman from The Frugality agreed to be my next FC Insider. I’ve loved Alex’s blog forever and her style is perfect, yet so achievable with her tips and hints. Alex also has your next trip away sorted with her own ‘Frugal City Guides‘ for travel inspiration that won’t break the bank. Here is her FC Insider interview…

What’s your favourite holiday climate?

I like to be warm, I’m a real summer girl at heart – so mid to late 20s is ideal for me.

What’s your favourite destination to date?

Too many! I love Corsica, the beautiful clear water of Croatia…but Japan is probably my favourite place in the world – it has everything: tropical islands, bustling cities, history and culture, and great food.

Do you have any FC insider tips/recommendations? What to wear?

For a city break, I always pack a monochrome palette, mixing in a bit of denim and leopard print – that way, everything matches. And I usually always wear flats – it’s just easier for sightseeing.

What are your ultimate Travel Companions?

I love Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir, Frends headphones for the plane (which I picked up for £50 in TK Maxx!), Adidas Stan Smith trainers and a Catarzi hat at Asos.

Straw Matador Hat – ASOS

How important is traveling to you?

I met some of my best friends whilst travelling 10 years ago – she lives in San Diego and we see each other every year (and were each others’ bridesmaids). We have a special bond that will never leave us.

What would be the perfect holiday?

I love a mix of city and unwinding, as I love to rest but also get bored easily…so somewhere like Barcelona is perfect for me as you can do sights in the morning before it gets too hot, then flop on the beach for the rest of the day. Plus, it has excellent, affordable restaurants.

Beauty Elixir – Caudalíe

Fashion & Travel Insiders – Aubrey Daquinag

Next up in the FC Insiders series is Aubrey Daquinag, the creative force behind The Love Assembly. Aubrey travels the world capturing it all in the most beautiful way, to get an idea watch her YouTube video here; and try to tell me you haven’t been bitten by the wanderlust bug after!

What’s your favourite holiday climate?

Spring time travels is always nice – not too hot or too cold, and it’s when the flowers bloom!

What’s your favourite destination to date?

I always struggle with this question because I love different destinations for different reasons, that’s the beauty of travelling – seeing, experiencing and learning through a variety of cultures, colours, scents, food, sceneries, languages and architecture. From what I’ve experienced so far I loved my latest travels through the north of India, I was so happily immersed in such rich culture in every little aspect, I love the Philippines for the peoples hospitalilty, friends and living the ultimate island life (there’s 7000+ islands) and seeing more of the world has made me fall in love with home (Australia) even more.

Do you have any FC insider tips/recommendations? What to wear?

I normally go for a travel uniform based on the locations climate, a neutral colour palette with pieces that mix and match / can be worn multiple ways, and accessories that I purchase at each destination as souvenirs that really make your travel style your own.

What are your ultimate Travel Companions?

Camera – My number 1 accessory! 1 film and 1 digital. Tinted moisturiser with SPF, never forget to wear sunscreen kids! and;  a sense of curiosity (the most important, to replace fear with curiosty)

Tinted Moisturiser – Mecca Cosmetica

How important is traveling to you?

Travel teaches you more about yourself as much as it teaches you about the world. It’s super important for growth, inspiration, To travel is to evolve.

What would be the perfect holiday?

I’ve been going glamping quite a bit this year and I’d be happy being surrounded by my loved ones while glamping (even camping!), being surrounded by nature, cooking outdoors and spending nights by the bon fire laughing together. Not much could beat that, I don’t think!

Mojave Ghost Eau De Parfum – Byredo Parfum

Fashion & Travel Insiders – Pandora Sykes

To kick off the FC Insiders series I’ve asked the super smart and super stylish Pandora Sykes to be the first FC Insider. From Kiini bikinis to Scrabble, Pandora talks holiday’s…

What’s your favourite holiday climate?

Summer, most definitely. I love aspects of all seasons but nothing beats minimal clothing and the sun on your bare (SPF’d!) skin.

What’s your favourite destination to date?

The Amalfi Coast, the Big Sur, Bali, Jamaica, the most northern point of Scotland and Copenhagen.

Do you have any FC insider tips/recommendations? What to wear?

Always take ear plugs, pain killers, an eye mask and a pillow. Learnt that the hard way! To wear: old denim, piles of white cotton, anything backless, Kiini bikinis, flat sandals and lace up espadrilles, silk scarves to tie around hair/burnt shoulders/use as belt, and anything frilly. I’m much girlier in the summer, in a 90s kind of way.

What are your ultimate Travel Companions?

At least 4 books, Ancient Greek sandals, my Babyliss BigHair (In heat, left to dry naturally, I have hair like Monica in Friends on *that* holiday), Le Labo Santal moisturiser and Scrabble.

Santal 33 Body Lotion – Le Labo

How important is traveling to you?

I love it – it’s restorative to the soul. But it’s also a treat – an expensive treat – and should be treated as that!

What would be the perfect holiday?

Good people, delicious food and drink, plenty of sun, pool or sea and a soft bed with crisp sheets.

Scrabble
